"Cake is like solid beer."
- Jamey Johns
We had a specially rescheduled meeting on Monday, September 16 to
decide which beers would represent the club at NCHF.
Last month we picked the
amber, and this month we voted on the California Common and IPA.
After a great showing by everybody who brought samples, here are the final entries for NCHF:
Start thinking about your nominations for next year's club officers. Belgian Brew-Off: Our next club competition will be an openly judged Belgian event. Bring your Belgian brew to the February DOZE meeting and hear what people have to say about it. We will bestow a "Best of Show" award to the one we like the best. Check out Dr. Scott's Belgian Style Guide, complete with commercial examples, to help you plan your recipe. Where do you brew? Send me photos of your setup and we'll post them to the website. Be the envy of the online world!

The Northern California Homebrewers Festival is THIS WEEKEND! September 20-21 at Skyline Park in Napa. Don't miss this - it's a great festival. The Tiki Hut will be there, but we need you to Bring Food!!! to share for lunch and dinner. Some club members are bringing BBQs, so there will be cooking space available. We also need you to Donate Beer!!! Even if you're not going, we need beer to serve at the festival. Our booth is always one of the most popular because our members brew the best, so let's continue that tradition! Call Jamey or the shop to arrange a donation if you're not coming up.
Big Brew: Sunday, October 20. Bring your system and brew up a batch, or just come to help out and have fun. We'll get started early in the morning (10am is early enough for me). Bring a side dish to share - the club usually provides burgers to BBQ. Club Trip: mid-November we will be renting a small bus/van and visiting some breweries (tentatively Russian River, Lagunitas, Bear Republic). More details coming soon. Holiday Party: December 2 at Black Diamond in Walnut Creek. Bring your significant other and enjoy pizza, beer, and a festive holiday atmosphere. A small donation will probably be required, more details to come. |
