September MeetingWe held our September meeting on the night of the big storm. What a night. Most everybody stood outside just to see the light show. It was incredible. The report from those that made it to the Norcal Brewfest was that DOZE had some of the best beers there but we didn't win any prizes. The other news was that the dinner Saturday night is not to be missed. Jamie Johns is on the board of directors for next years festival so if you have any comments or ideas bring them up with him. There were a couple of comments that the Tiki Hut was sorely missed and that overall attendance was down.
Yours truly did his talk (the fast version of the long talk) on malting. You can review the paper here. Also there were handouts on the topic from the BJCP document here The next meeting is Monday Oct 29 at the B3 shop. We will do some planning work for next year. Be thinking about events, talks, brews, trips. Be thinking about becoming an officer and helping out. |
Big Brew 2Sunday, Oct 14 is the day. Put it on your calendar and show up for Big Brew 2. We will be brewing a 260 gallon batch of a Winter Warmer at the E.J. Phair (give 'em the bird) micro brewery next to the B3 shop. Note that this is a date change from the one last reported. The event begins at 10:00 a.m. and goes all day. Bring your own gear and brew along or just stop by to help out. Bring along something to eat and share.
Supposedly there is a write up on DOZE in the November "Diablo Magazine" - check it out. Let us know what they said.
We had two new members at the September meeting. Welcome to Patrick and Casey. Introduce yourself to them if you didn't do it at the last meeting. |
