In other competition news, Robert's Belgian Double won 3rd place at a competition in North Carolina. We had three great talks. Captain Pete told us all about making hard cider. Scott gave a tech talk about an experimental method of making extract beer without boiling the extract. Finally, Dick gave us an overview of Scotch Ales. Scott and Bob were reelected to the club Presidency and Vice-Presidency. They need your help planning out club events for 2003. A planning meeting will be held in early January. Contact Scott if you're interested. Big Brew was a great success. Pictures Here! We had 6 people brewing 7 batches of beer. Send me pictures if you have them. The Big Brew was featured in two local newspapers. Read the article here: page 1, page 2 (warning - large image files). The Brew Tour was also a big success. Detailed review coming soon. We decided to increase the club dues to $25/year.

Costs are as follows:
Belgian Brew-Off: Our next club competition will be an openly judged Belgian event. Bring your Belgian brew to the February DOZE meeting and hear what people have to say about it. We will bestow a "Best of Show" award to the one we like the best. Check out Dr. Scott's Belgian Style Guide, complete with commercial examples, to help you plan your recipe.
Guest Speakers:
We hope to convince Vinny from Russian River to talk about
Belgians at the February meeting (the Belgian Brew-Off judging).
Vinny has lots of experience with brewing and marketing
Belgian-style beers.
