February Meeting

We called the meeting to order a little after 7 PM and the first order of business was to set the schedule of events for the rest of the year. There is a good year ahead and I, for one, am looking forward to a lot of fun.

2 new members joined us for the meeting, Mike McDole and Bill Walsh - Welcome.

Dr. Scott gave an excellent talk on Recipe Formulation. Scott took a big topic and broke it into manageable and understandable chunks. See the notes on his talk in the Links section. Thanks, Scott, for the time and obvious effort you put into this.

There was the usual tasting of some fine beers, including a very clean Belgian Triple

The March 26 meeting will be at the B3 shop and Regan will discuss Kegging and draft systems.

Big Brew Day

The Big Brew was a big success.

About 20 people showed up to take part in brewing up 260 gallons of Marzen at the E.J. Phair Brewing Company. The process went from grinding 575 lbs of grain to pitching ~5 gallons of yeast and took a little over 7 hours. We will bottle it at the April 30 meeting.

See the recipe on the Recipes' page.

3 different brews were going on, there were also 2 pale ales (one a Sr. Project for high school) and a Belgian WitBeer.

Food was plentiful (thanks to everybody who brought something), and the weather was on our side most of the day.

It was a good day.
