July Meeting

We piled into Joe's van for a road trip to Schooner's brew pub in Antioch. First of all - THANKS to Joe for providing the van. He has done this a couple of times now and it is really appreciated. Schooners gave us a god deal on the beer and pizza but it was not a good environment to hold a meeting so talk in Malting was postponed until next month and the meeting went downhill pretty quickly as the pub samples and the homebrews were brought out.

We did get some business accomplished, however.

  • We settled on Nov 26 for the Doze Holiday Party this year. We are checking out the Black Diamond brew pub for the venue.
  • Bob reported back on the B3 / JJ Phair grand openings. It seems that all went well. The club made some money, donated $80 to the Cancer Society and I think everybody had a good time. Thanks to Bob for setting it up and to everybody who helped out at the booth.

There was the usual tasting of some fine homebrews.

The August 27 meeting will be at the B3 shop and I will be talking about the Malting process and we will do some tasting and voting on which of the Belgians the club will enter for the Northern California HomeBrew Festival. P.S. The entry fee for the festival goes up to $40 after Aug 25 and before our next meeting.

It's been a While

I haven't updated the site for a couple of months so check out some of the changes.

There has been a lot happening. The Events schedule has been updated. There are some new Links and we've published Olin's notes on All Grain Brewing

In July there was a club road-trip to Anchor Brewing and Potrero Hill in SF. I missed it but those that went but those that went said that the tours were good and the club was well received. It seems that we know how to party.

At the July meeting, Chris, always creative, determined that he wouldn't just talk about making meads, he would show us how easy it was as well, so he did the full brewing process in the meeting room as he gave his talk.

It was a good day.
